July Empties | 2021

Hey everyone! Let's go through all the products I used up in July!

Face

Freeman Facial Anti-Stress Mask (150 ml) - This mask can be on the messy side as it is a wash-off clay mask. It claims to purify and clear pores. It is priced fairly but I will say that this tube took me forever to get through.

Medi Heal | Line Friends N.M.F Aquaring Ampoule Mask (27 ml) - This felt very nice on my skin and my skin felt very plump after using it. This is hands down one of the best sheet masks that I have ever used. It claims to deliver intensive hydration, it’s firming, oil-controlling and brightening. All skin types can use this mask and it’s from South Korea. The little characters are on the side of the mask and it’s super cute!

Equate Night-Time Soothing Makeup Remover Towelettes (40 count) - These were super affordable and I purchased them at Wal-Mart. These did the job and didn’t break on me. I would repurchase them but the top part where the makeup wipe comes out of, fell off.

GLAMGLOW POWER CLEANSE Daily Dual Cleanser - This is a discontinued product and t really did such a great job at removing my makeup. One side is mud and the other side is oil. The mud side ran out before the oil side did. The silver did flake off everywhere which is a con.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water (100 ml) - This was great to use and I used it as a toner to remove any leftover traces of makeup that my cleanser didn’t get. I would definitely repurchase this!

SF Glow Sun’s Out, Pouts Out Gold Foil Lip Mask (8 ml) - This is the fourth one that I’ve used and I’m definitely a fan. I like to use them when my lips are really dry and flaking. It’s also a very cute design.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Cream (15 ml) - This is the second jar that I’ve gone through and I like the consistency of it. It claims to smooth, brighten and depuff the under eyes.

Body

Up & Up Sport Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 (10.4 fl oz/307.5 ml) - I bought this in a two-pack on clearance awhile back and I did enjoy this sunscreen. I made sure to reapply it many times throughout the day to avoid getting burned by the sun. It felt a little greasy at first but that goes away and it absorbs into the skin well.

Nails

Equate 100% Acetone Nail Polish Remover (295 ml) - This did the job and it’s very inexpensive. This bottle lasted me quite a long time.

Hair

Joico Hair Shake (50 ml) - This is a liquid to powder texturizing finisher and I just wasn’t a fan. It made my hair look dry and it stopped pumping after awhile even though there was a lot of product still in the bottle.

Face - Promo/Samples

Origins Retexturing Mask with Rose Clay (15 ml) - I’m definitely a fan of this mask and it made my skin so soft. This is a wash-off mask and I would definitely purchase a larger size in the future.

Body

SNP Beauty Cafferonic Body Wash - I have used a few other their other products and the scent is very consistent throughout the line! There was a good amount of foam and my skin felt didn’t feel dry after using it. This claims to be good for ild cleansing.

SNP Beauty Cafferonic Body Lotion - I really enjoyed the formula and my skin drank it up! It is not too thin or a consistency and not too thick. It also smells amazing and my skin was so soft after using it. This claims to be for deep moisturizing.

SNP Beauty Cafferonic Shampoo - I have the full sized bottle and this smells incredible! It also lathers very well and makes my hair feel clean but not stripped.

Makeup

NARS Blush in Orgasm - This has such a cult following and has been around for many years. It has a nice shimmer to it and it’s a peachy pink colour. This looks great on the skin.

 Until next time,

July Empties | 2019

Hey everyone! Let's go through all of my empties for the month of July!

 Face
Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion SPF 30 (30 ml) - I got this awhile back as part of a set. I could no longer find this product on the Sephora website but it is still sold at Ulta. I have very oily skin and this product made my skin overproduce oils. It felt greasy on the face and I started breaking out a bit. This product I forced myself to use up before it expired and I had it in my collection for a long time. I wouldn’t ever use this product again nor would I recommend it even for dry skin types. The only pro is that it contains SPF and I could apply this in the morning and go about my day.

Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips (14 count) - I purchased these on Amazon for a great price and the charcoal is great for my oily skin. I tend to go through these quite quickly and even got my brother to use them now!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Chamomile & Lavender (118 ml) - I have tried many facial sprays by Mario Badescu in the past and I still love to use them! Lavender is one of my favourite scents and I used this spray at night to lock in all of my skincare.

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores (.17 oz/5 ml each x 4) - This mask was great to use on my oily skin and these masks break off into sections which are great to travel with. My skin felt so clean and soft after using it. I did use it once a week and the bamboo charcoal helps to remove any excess oil that could cause blackheads. A tube containing 30 ml will cost you $17 and a 75 ml tube is $34 at Sephora. I did purchase mine at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale for $6.50.

Sheet Masks
SK-II Pitera Facial Treatment Mask (1 Mask) - This mask is not cheap and I’ve had it in my collection for awhile, but when I went on the Sephora website recently, you can’t just buy 1 anymore. I paid $22 for 1 treatment. The instructions say to place over your eye area and then spread it over the rest of your face. You want to pat it firm and leave on for 5-15 minutes. The mask is good quality and it is rather thick compared to other sheet masks that I have used in the past. It was cooling on the face and I left it on for 15 minutes. It’s a single use mask and it is made in Japan. There are 7 ingredients and the first one is water.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Hydrogel Melting Mask (28 g) - This is definitely one of the best sheet masks that I have ever used! It felt so luxurious on the skin and it made my skin so soft after using it. It claims to: glow, plump and smooth your face - all which I agree with! It is rich in bifidus extract and the mask actually contains the same amount of that extract found in 1 full size bottle of their advanced génifique serum. This is a full face and the first ingredient is water. It is made in Korea and I would definitely consider purchasing this mask to use before a special event in the future. The mask retails for $20 on Sephora’s website.

Bath & Body Works
Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Vanilla Bean Noël (259 ml x 2) - This is a classic seasonal scent that Bath & Body Works has to offer and I just love anything with a vanilla scent. I know that it’s in my July Empties but why not use it year round? The notes include: fresh vanilla bean, warm caramel and sugar cookies.

Nails
Revlon Nail Art 3D Jewel Appliqués Wildflowers #02 (18 appliqués) - I tried looking for a link online but could not find one. I am not sure how available these are as I found them at the back of my drawer and bought them years ago at a warehouse sale. These were a bit tricky at first to apply but I soon got the hang of them. It comes with: a mini nail file, a cuticle stick and 18 nail appliqués. I wish that it came with 20 because you can only do a full set once. I do recommend that you set your nails with a clear topcoat and it adds a nice design to your nails.

Miscellaneous
Midol Menstrual Extra Strength (32 caplets) - I always have this on hand when it is around that time of the month. I tend to get very bad cramping and this helps me so much. I only ever buy the extra strength version and if you aren’t sure about this product then please speak to your doctor. I buy mine at the grocery store and it is on the shelf readily accessible.

Body
The Body Shop Instant Glow Body Butter in British Rose (50 ml) - This smelled great and it absorbed into my skin pretty quickly compared to the original body butter formula that tends to be greasy. It really did a great job at hydrating my skin and made it glow. I also layered with with the British Rose Shower Gel and the Atlas Mountain Rose Eau de Toilette from The Body Shop.

George & Viv Coconut Colada Scented Soap (5.3 oz) - This is my first ever purchase at Anthropologie and it smells incredible! It lathers nicely in the shower and my skin feels incredible soft! The scent lingers slightly and I wish that I had bought a few some! It is made in Portugal and when I was in Buffalo, they were having a 50% off sale so I purchased it for $2.50!

Nivea Sabonete Lavanda & Óleos Com Hidratante (85 g) - This is another soap that I purchased in Brazil and I am generally a big fan of lavender scents in general so I thought that I would pick this soap up to try.

Promo/Samples - Face
Olay Eyes Brightening Eye Cream (0.5 ml) - I received this as a sample and got a few uses out of it. I did feel that my under eye area was brightened and I only used this in the morning. My eye area also felt moisturized and I did enjoy using this product! I don’t have dark under eyes so I can’t speak on that. The full size retails for $39 for 15 ml of product.

Clarins Mission Perfection Serum (10 ml) - I received this as a deluxe sample from The Beauty Boutique with my order. The full size is 30 ml ($75) and the size that I received was very generous as it is 1/3rd of a full size bottle. The pump never worked and was defective but I found a way to still get out the product. My skin did look more radiant while using this product and I don’t have dark spots so I can’t speak to that. I did enjoy using it at night.

July Empties | 2018

Hey everyone! It's time to sort through my trash and check out all the products that I finished this month!

Face/Lips
Tarte Lip Facial Lip Scrub Most of the writing has since come off the packaging and I remember receiving this in a set from Sephora that is no longer on their website. This was perfect for travel and I took it to many places. It does a great job at exfoliating as well as conditioning. You just simply twist up the product and I even used it for my dry spot under my bottom lip. There’s some great ingredients such as: Shea butter, petrolatum and antioxidant-rich algae. The only downside is that it is hard to get out every bit of product and I felt myself digging to get the product out of the very bottom of the tube.

Equate Unscented Ultra Soft Baby Wipes (88 count) - These lasted me quite a long time and I used them to remove my makeup at night. They did not tear on me, they were a pretty decent size and I only had to use one at night to remove my whole face of makeup. They are a great value and I would repurchase them again in the future at Walmart!

Estee Lauder Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Mist (30 ml) - This did nothing to my face and I thought it was a waste of money. I paid $20 for it and I featured this in my Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale Haul | March 2018. This product has since been discontinued as I no longer see it online and it should be no surprise that this spray was featured in my Disappointing Products | Volume 3 blog post.

Nair Moisturizing Face Cream Hair Remover (57 g) - I use this on my upper lip to remove the hair there. This isn’t the best product on the market and you have to ensure that you do not leave it on for too long or else your skin will be irritated. My tube has gone off and I’m onto my new bottle now. This is very affordable but I have to use it once every 1-2 weeks regularly.

Face Masks
Garnier The Super Purifying Charcoal Sheet Mask (28 ml) - This was one of the more comfortable sheet masks to wear and only the mask itself was black - the essence was clear. My face felt refreshed and softer after using it just once. I would definitely repurchase this mask in the future and try out some other ones from Garnier! If you want to know more about this mask, I have a dedicated review on this exact sheet mask.

Innisfree My Real Squeeze Rice Mask (20 ml) - This is described as a rich cream-type mask that is enriched with abundant nourishment from rice. This mask is on the smaller side as far as fit is concerned and there is a slight scent that did not bother me. This is definitely a creamier mask as the essence is not in liquid form and the leftover product on your face after you peel off the sheet mask is heavier too. Usually I dislike it but for this mask, I actually did not mind. It is a heavier sheet mask though so keep that in mind before you purchase it. This isn’t amongst my favourite masks but it isn’t a bad one either.

Body/Hands
Korres Shower Gel in Water Lily Blossom (400 ml) - I originally purchase this at TSC Warehouse Sale and it was such a great buy! I liked the scent as it is described as a fresh, delicate scent of water flowers. The formula of this shower gel was also fantastic and I’m already onto another scent from the brand! The only downfall is that this product is hard to track down as only shopping channel networks or eBay popped up when I tried finding a direct link to this product therefore, it’s safe to say that I think it's discontinued.

Ed Hardy Villain Eau De Parfum Spray (75 ml) - This bottle took me a while to get through and the scent never went off luckily. The lasting power was awful on this particular scent and that’s the main reason why I would not repurchase it. The bottle is designed well and this has gone down in price significantly over the years. I'm pretty sure it has been discontinued.

AHAVA Mineral Hand Cream (100 ml) - I purchased mine on The Bay’s website for $12.60 on sale which a deal that you can’t beat considering that the hand cream alone retails for $30. This product does not irritate my psoriasis and it is very moisturizing. It is approved for sensitive skin, it is allergy tested and paraben free. The only con is that the packaging is rather boring and they can switch it up because the tube tends to get really dirty. Check out my review on the AHAVA Precious Mineral Stars Set Review.

Bath & Body Works
Car Fragrance Refill in Honolulu Sun (6 ml) - I used to really like the scent when it was new but the last few times I’ve come across it, I’m just over it. It’s very strong smelling and I’m not into it anymore. It’s time to retire this scent for the time being and move onto new ones!

Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Peach Bellini (259 ml) - I have repurchased this scent many times throughout the years and it’s one of my favourites from Bath & Body Works. It is described as having notes of: juicy peach, white apricot and fresh mango. It smells great and you can’t go wrong with having this in your bathroom for guests to use!

Creamy Luxe Hand Soap in Warm Vanilla Sugar (236 ml) - This is a great hand soap for the bathroom and is one that I have purchased several times throughout the years. It is described as: rich, creamy vanilla sprinkled with sparkling sugar. I will continue to repurchase this scent as it never get tired of it!

Miscellaneous
Equate Tearless Baby Shampoo (592 ml) - For anyone who follows my blog, this should come as no surprise as this is what I use to clean both my makeup sponges as well as my makeup brushes. It is very affordable and lasts me a decent amount of time. I am already on my new bottle and it works the same as Johnson’s Baby Shampoo in my honest opinion but is $2 cheaper for the same amount of product.

July Empties | 2017

Hey everyone! It is time again for another month of empties. Check out which products that I have used up this month and my thoughts on each one!

Face
Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips for the Face (8 count) - These are by far my favourite affordable pore strips and I get mine at Walmart for around $8 which makes each strip about $1. My packaging is the 20th anniversary packaging but the strips inside remain the same.

GLAMGLOW THIRSTYCLEANSE Daily Hydrating Cleanser (30 ml) - I purchased mine from the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale as it was buy one get one free on the travel size cleansers. I really like this one the best and it gets off most of my makeup at the end of the night. I look forward to using this product and really can’t say enough great things about it! I'm pretty sure that this cleanser has been discontinued.

Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Restorative Radiance Oil (4 ml) - I purchased this also from the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and I looked forward to using this oil each night! It definitely made my skin softer and more smooth. I have another sample to go through of this and I am loving it so far! I think this has been discontinued.

Cleansing Wipes - Pink Grapefruit Scented (25 count) - I purchased these at Michaels and they are definitely not my favourite makeup wipes to use, but they get the job done. These would be better suited to remove swatches off your arms.

Body
NEST Fragrances Citrine Eau De Toilette (10 ml) - This is the perfect scent for Spring and/or Summer! I purchased this on Black Friday last year and it was such a great value! The notes include: Lemon Blossom, Lotus Flower, Freesia, Dew Drop Accord and Precious Woods.

Honey Dew Hemp Dark Tanning Maximizer (235 ml) - This is paraben free, it has natural hemp seed oil and color burst complex. It smells great but it doesn’t get my skin as dark as it claims to be or as dark as I would like to be. It isn’t my favourite tanning lotion on the market and I wouldn’t repurchase it.

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer in Fair to Medium (150 ml) - I have the old packaging and this gives you a gradually tan that is not orange and it is not streaky. It definitely looks like a natural tan, it doesn’t smell awful and there are both minerals as well as antioxidants in the formula. I have been using this on and off for over 10 years and will continue to purchase it again in the future!

The Body Shop Shower Gel in Early-Harvest Raspberry (250 ml) - This was a great shower gel to use and the raspberry scent was definitely on point! It would be best to use in the Spring time and I really liked the formulation!

Hands
Aerin Rose Hand & Body Cream (30 ml) - I purchased this from the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale and it really does smell like fresh roses! You can purchase it at Sephora and I definitely want to pick-up the full size once I go through all of my other hand creams!

Hair
Kiss My Face Whenever Green Tea & Lime Shampoo (325 ml) - This is definitely one of my favourite shampoos! It does a great job at cleansing my hair and I love the scent! You can find it in the organic section and my only complaint is that I go through it rather quickly because it is a smaller bottle. There is a larger bottle that the stores do sell and if you are wondering, this shampoo is chemical free!

Bath & Body Works
Deep Cleansing Hand Soap in Sunshine & Lemons (236 ml) - This has a nice citrus scent to it and my hands definitely felt clean after washing them with this product. It would be great to use in the kitchen.

Scentportable Fragrance Refill in Fresh Linen This has been a longtime favourite clean scent of mine. This definitely reminds me of a fresh laundry scent. This is a great addition to my car and I have received numerous compliments!

Tools/Other
Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies (165 count) - I have been taking these for many years now and I definitely swear by them! My nails grow faster and they have also become harder. I can’t say enough great things about them and I will be purchasing them for years to come!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge This is the second one that I have gone through and it is definitely in my top 3 favourite sponges. Unfortunately, there was a crack in my sponge that kept getting bigger and I was forced to throw it out. I have a back-up that I am currently using because I hate being without this sponge!

Equate Quilted Pads (100 pads) - These are great to use for toning your face and removing eye makeup. They are gentle on the skin and do not leave any cotton behind. The best part is that you can purchase them from Walmart and they are very affordable!

Samples/Promo - Face
Clarins Hydra-Essentiel (0.5 oz/15 ml) - After finishing the entire tube, I can say that is not something that I would purchase the full size of. I really wish that it had an SPF and the scent would turn off a lot of potential customers.

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer (15 ml) - I am pretty sure that I have the old packaging and mine is the travel size version that was included in a kit that was purchased from Sephora. It is great for all skin types and it does not have a scent. This moisturizer really didn’t do anything out of the ordinary and wasn’t my favourite.

Clinique Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser (30 ml) - This came free with my Sephora order when I used a promotional code with my online order. I did test it and it did remove my makeup at the end of the end night however, I much prefer using it in the morning because of the exfoliating beads. The formula is orange which is clever and it is a 2-in-1 cleanser which eliminates me from using a separate product in the morning and ultimately cuts down the time that I spend on my skincare routine which I definitely appreciate!

ELF Illuminating Eye Cream This was one of two samples that were included in an order that I placed online awhile back. This contains: purified water, cucumber and green tea. There are no parabens, no sulphates and no phthalates. I used this both during the day and at night to really put it to the test. It exceeded my expectations and I really enjoyed using it overall!

ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer This was the second sample that was included in my order and it reminded me of the Smashbox silicone primer. This could pretty much be a dupe for it and it definitely helped my makeup go on a lot smoother.

Body
Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Toilette (1 ml) - This is described as ‘a moment of grace in a fragrance,’ and it is an Allure Best of Beauty award winner. The notes include: Honey Flower, Solar Musk, Orange Blossom, Osmanthus, Amberlyn, Vanilla, Tactile Musk, Tactile Woods and Vetiver. The style is warm, sensual and feminine. This is a powerful scent that you really only need 1 spray of but 2 at the most. It is very musky and lasted throughout the day!

Teeth
Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening Gel (1) & Desensitizing Gel (1) - They did did the packaging and they switched up the colours. I do like it better and the product is the same as far as I am concerned. I use it to brighten my smile at least once a week!

June Empties | 2021

Hey everyone! I finished up 15 products last month so let's take a look at each one!

Face

Kate Somerville EradiKate (30 ml) - This is definitely one of the best acne treatments that I have ever used. It can be drying on the skin but it shrinks the pimple over night. This is a holy grail of mine and I plan on repurchasing it.

Lips

SF Glow Sun’s Out, Pouts Out Gold Lip Foil Lip Mask (1) - This is the third lip mask I’ve used from the brand and it’s definitely a fun mask to wear. it is infused with Cica as well as Honeysuckle Flower Extract. It does a great job at moisturizing my lips and makes them super soft!

Vitamins/Supplements

Nature’s Bounty B-12 2500 mcg (120 Micro Tablets) - I have been taking these for a few years now and definitely think that it helps with my energy levels. I prefer to take the ones with a higher dosage but these worked too.

Nails

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Colour in #420 Pacific Blue (11.8 ml) - I really enjoy painting my nails with this shade during the warmer months. The blue really pops and it also looks fab on the toes when you have a tan!

MAC Overlacquer Finition (10 ml) - This is a discontinued nail polish that I used as a top coat. It worked well and I liked the brush that it came with.

Samples/Promo - Face

Too Faced Hangover Good In Bed Hydrating Serum - This was mediocre in my opinion and I’ve tried better serums over the years. It can feel a bit sticky on the skin.

Too Faced Born This Way Matte 24 Hour Foundation in Porcelain - I really liked the formula of this foundation and made my face look flawless. However, this was not a good match for me. I would agree with the claim that it’s super long wearing because I had it on all day and it still look good at the end of the day.

AMOREPACIFIC Vintage Single Extract Essence (5 ml) - I was not a fan of this product because I didn’t feel like it was doing anything for my skin. This is an anti-aging essence that contains only 6 ingredients including fermented green tea. It is not sticky on the skin and really doesn’t have a scent. It is overpriced and I wouldn’t purchase a large size of this.

La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum (10 ml) - I enjoyed the scent of this and it was a bit tacky on the skin which I did not mind. It did a great job at moisturizing the skin and I would definitely purchase the full sized version.

Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Eye Sleeping Mask (1.5 ml) - This contains encapsulated retinol and coffee berry. It claims to be brightening and firming. This is meant to be used alone and not in conjunction with another eye cream. This is definitely a thick product and this little sample gave me a ton of uses! This was just alright and I’m not completely sold on it just yet.

It Cosmetics Hello Results Wrinkle Reducing Daily Retinol Serum-In-Cream (1.5 ml) - The colour is a bright yellow that took me by surprise. It feels great on the skin and is very moisturizing. A little goes a long way and my skin definitely felt smoother. I would definitely think about purchasing this in a larger size. Key ingredients include: Dual Retinol, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3,) Vitamin E and Vitamin B5.

It Cosmetics Confidence In A Cream Moisturizer - This felt nice and very hydrating on the skin. I enjoyed using it at night and because it’s a cream, it’s thicker in consistency. There’s hyaluronic acid in the formula which is one of my favourite ingredients.

Perfume

Lancôme Idôle L’Intense Eau De Parfum (1.2 ml) - I didn’t think that I would like this scent when I just sniffed it from the bottle but it really works with my body chemistry! It’s described as a flamboyant floral heart made with sustainably sourced Isparta rose petals and madagascan bourbon vanilla.

Hair

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask (30 ml) - The scent reminded me of when you stay at a hotel and use their toiletries. My hair felt very soft and was easier to manage after it was dried. I like that my hand didn’t feel super sticky after applying it to my hair which is pet peeve of mine.

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo (30 ml) - This was interesting to use in the shower and it was a minty scent to it. I thought that the product was going to be more gritty than it actually was. My scalp felt cleaner after using it but I wouldn’t say that this is a must-have item.

Until next time,
