Maybelline FaceStudio Master Conceal Review

Hey everyone! I recently ran out of my other Maybelline Concealer which was the Age Rewind one, and I went to the store to pick-up a new concealer which is when I came across this one.

I purchased mine in the shade 'Light' because the shade 'Fair' was too pink-toned for me and I knew that would not work because I have a yellow undertone to my skin. I much prefer this applicator to the Age Rewind one which is a sponge tip, because you can control exactly how much product comes out through the small opening. Now I don't know if this is with all of the concealers in the FaceStudio Master Conceal line, but mine was rather liquid-y when squeezing product out. It is not a huge downside to this product because it does give a nice medium coverage to the skin.

It does blend out very well and I use a small brush to drag the product onto my skin to outline the areas that I want to brighten. I then grab a Beauty Blender and blend away! The tube itself is small as it is only 12 ml. I was going to try the Fit Me concealer (also by Maybelline,) but that tube would last me about a month before I run out and have to purchase again. I wanted something that would last me a bit longer. As far as price is concerned, I bought mine for $10 CAD at Wal-Mart.

Overall, I do like this concealer and think that it is a fair price for what you are paying. I do enjoy the medium coverage and that it is more of a yellow undertone in shade 'Light.' I am curious to see how long this will last me and I will be sure to keep you updated on that!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

Makeup Dupes | Face & Lips

Hey everyone! I recently came across a few dupes that are close in colour and I wanted to share them with you. It is great for the girl on a budget!

ELF's Giddy Gold ($3 USD) Vs. NARS Luster ($30 CAD)

Giddy Gold is on the left and on the right is Luster in both photos.
You can tell that Giddy Gold deposits more gold onto the face whereas Luster is described on the Sephora web site as a 'sheer golden apricot.' If you want a more exact dupe, try Peachy Keen from ELF. Also, the packaging is very similar as well!

Update: I just realized that I had Peachy Keen in my collection and it is a very close dupe for NARS Luster. Much closer than ELF's Giddy Gold!

MAC Angel ($21 CAD) Vs. Revlon Primrose ($6-8 CAD)
Primrose is swatched on the left and Angel is on the right. I did not use any lipliner on my lips, just the product itself. Angel is described on the MAC web site as a Soft Pink and it is a Frost.

Until next time,

DIY Choker - 3 Different Styles for $15

Hey everyone! I have been noticing lately that everyone including the Kardashians have been rocking this fashionable choker circa 1990's. I went on the Urban Outfitters web site and seen that the necklace that I had been eyeing would cost me $22 CAD. I decided to make 3 different chokers for $15 CAD. You can see in the photo below, all the supplies that I purchased came from Michaels.

Choker #1

I will be wearing these shoes tomorrow night when I go out for my friend's birthday dinner and they were my inspiration behind this choker. At Michaels, there is ribbon that the floral department can cut for you if it is indicated on the roll. The smallest amount you can get cut is a half a meter. That is how much this piece is. I am just going to tie it at the back and layer another necklace with it tomorrow night!

Choker #2

I used the thicker ribbon for this and instead of purchasing a backing for the necklace to secure it, I decided to use one of my old necklaces that I no longer wear. You need the two pieces for your choker and I literally just cut the chain with my red scissors. You then have the two pieces you need! It is as easy as that. Also, make sure to measure the choker around your neck and cut off the excess before continuing with the next step.

Next, before you start stitching, I noticed that the ends were fraying more than I would like them to so I took a lighter and burned the ends to stop them from shedding. If you are under 18, please get a parent or guardian to help you with them step. I also did this step for Choker #1. You then are going to want to stitch your pieces to the ribbon. I made the mistake of using a chain with tiny links which made it more difficult to stitch and I had to use a smaller needle so keep that in mind. Once that step is done, connect the two pieces and you can rock your new choker!

When I cut what I needed from the thicker ribbon to make Choker #2, I still had a large enough piece left to make a fourth choker!

Choker #3

This is super easy and I just took the entire 3 yards of fabric, wrapped it around my neck several times and then added a cute little pendant. TIP: There may be kinks in the fabric because it was wrapped around a piece of cardboard. To get rid of the kinks, wrap it around something that is somewhat cylindrical such as a water bottle for a few hours, (I kept it wrapped overnight,) and then you will be free of kinks!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

Back At It Again With A Hope's Haul

Hey everyone! Hope's was having a Fourth of July sale where the entire web site was 50% off! I received my order in the mail yesterday and wanted to unbox it for you!

I have to say that the shoes online looked different in the photos than they do in person. They are lighter in colour and look faded in person. I still will wear them regardless though because the colour is perfect for summer and spring. Secondly, the white over the shoulder bag is very versatile and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it. The gold chain is detachable and you can simply wear it as a clutch if anything. The yellow sweater I actually already own in a dark green colour. I love it so much that I purchased it this fun yellow colour. They only had it in a size large but I can always wear it oversized and off the shoulder.

The necklace wasn't anything special but it will match a lot of outfits and it came with cute little earrings as a set. Lastly, the floral pencil skirt was too cute to pass up! The material is a bit stiff but the slit on the side lets you show a bit of leg but not too much.

Until next time,

Morphe Haul + A Mascara

Hey everyone! I recently went on the Morphe web site because I was finally convinced that I wanted to buy the highly talked about 350 Palette. There are a great range of colours which includes some gorgeous warm shades. As you can tell by the swatches, each shadow is highly pigmented. The only thing that I noticed when s watching the matte shades is that I had to pick up more product to get that opacity that I wanted. I do wish the palette was smaller in size because it is not ideal to travel with. Other than that, I am glad that I did pick-up this palette.

I finger swatched the last three shades on the right in the palette in the photo below.

I had never ordered from the Morphe web site before and I didn’t know that you could purchase other brands! After browsing the web site, I came across Jeffree Star’s Lip Scrubs and knew I had to buy one once I seen that it came in Pumpkin Spice Latte. It smells incredible and will be perfect for getting soft lips in fall! The packaging is gorgeous and you get 30 grams of product which is 1 oz. It is 5 grams more than the lip scrubs at Lush which only contain 25 grams. They are both sugar based lip scrubs.

There is a great range of brushes on the web site to choose from and I knew right away that I wanted a smaller brush for contouring. I bought the E46 Mini Angled Buffer Brush which is soft and the perfect size! I haven’t tried it on my face yet but it seems promising! The second brush that I purchased happens to be one of Jaclyn Hill’s favourites which is the M433 Pro Firm Blending Fluff. It is fluffy and rounded - just what I had wanted! A girl can never have enough blending brushes!

I did order the Morphe Concealer in Beige. I originally wanted a lighter shade but they were sold out so I settled on buying a slightly darker shade. I must say that I am not impressed with the formula. I don’t know if I got a bad batch, but you can tell from the photo that mine is clumpy, chunky and not appealing whatsoever. It is a thicker concealer and does blend out well. I can make this colour work but there is a lot of pink/peach undertones to it. It was only $5 USD and I am almost out of my other concealer so I needed something to replace it.

Separate from my Morphe order, I went to Wal-Mart a few days ago and wanted to share with you this mascara that I came across. It is from the Flower Line created by Drew Barrymore. I couldn’t find any information online if they are discontinuing the line or not because at Wal-Mart, the entire line was on clearance and there was barely anything left. I was tempted to purchase an eyeshadow quad but I had to refrain from doing so because I just bought the Morphe 350 palette. I digress, anyway, I got the Zoom-In Ultimate Mascara that has three different brush heads.

It claims to lengthen, curl and add thickness to your lashes. Each brush head does something different and if you use all three brush heads on your lashes, then you will receive all three benefits. You just twist the black part on the handle to get the specific brush head you want, coat your lashes generously and you are left with beautiful customizable lashes! I purchased mine in the shade Intense Black and I only paid $4.50 for this mascara.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.

June Empties | 2016

Hey everyone! Welcome to another edition of empties! As always, you can see all the products that I have used up for that month as well as my thoughts on each one!

Face
BiorĂ© Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips (8 Count) - This get the job done but they are messy and leave a back residue on my nose. I prefer the white coloured strips.

Hair
Big Sexy Hair Root Pump - This is a 'volumizing spray mousse' that I picked up a while back in Buffalo. I enjoyed using it and it doesn’t leave any greasy or white residue which I appreciate. I definitely would consider purchasing the full sized version.

Body
Shea Moisture African Black Soap with Shea Butter - I have heard a lot of talk about this brand and was excited to come across it when I was in NYC! I wanted to specifically try the African Black Soap because I have psoriasis and that is what it targets along with: eczema, acne, oily skin and other skin problems. It is messy to use in the shower because pieces of the soap that got wet tend to fall off. I purchased the largest size at Ricky’s for $6.99. I have found it to dry out my psoriasis which is one step in the right direction to clearing my psoriasis! It also mentions on the packaging that there is not any of the following: parabens, phthalates, parrafin, gluten, propylene glycol, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, no animal testing, PABA, synthetic color, DEA, sulfates and it is cruelty free. I am interested in trying out other products from their line! Maybe not in a solid form next time.

Satin Care Ultra Sensitive Irritation Defense Shave Gel - It is free from dyes and it is fragrance free. I do not have sensitive skin but wanted to try it out anyway. I can’t speak to all the claims because like I said, I have normal skin that is not sensitive but it was gentle on the skin. I would not repurchase because it did not benefit me tremendously and I like a shave gel that has fragrance.

Hands
Bath & Body Works Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Sweet Tangerine - It smells exactly like sweet tangerines! I enjoyed using it but it wasn’t one of my favourites and I am not about to rush out to repurchase it. I would need some time to miss this scent, then go out and repurchase.

Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Deep Cleansing Hand Soap in Kitchen Lemon - This scent has been around for years and it is one of my favourites to keep around the kitchen to get a nice deep clean.

Samples
Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Mouth Wash - This was a basic and very standard mouth wash that didn’t stand-out in my opinion. It is alcohol free and the scent is in ‘Refreshing Clean Mint.’

Nourish A Spa Line Refreshing Mouth Wash in Mint - This is great to travel with but this was again, a basic mouth wash that didn’t really capture my attention.

Listerine Zero Antiseptic Mouth Wash in Mild Mint - I really enjoyed using this product! It was my favourite of the three and I feel like it really did kill most of the germs that cause plaque in my mouth! I want to purchase the full size version of this bottle now! The taste is nice and not overpowering at all. It does claim that it is “less intense” which I would have to agree with.

Clearly Anti-Reflective Lens Cleaner - This was a standard glasses cleaner that didn’t really wow me.

OrganiQ Spa Anti-Oxidant Body Lotion - This had a nice scent to it and was quite hydrating. It absorbed quickly into my skin which is another plus because it didn’t make me feel sticky at all. It is “infused with lemongrass extract and certified organic shea butter.”

Neutrogena All-in-One Make-up Removing Cleansing Wipes (2 packs of 7) - I had forgotten how much I enjoyed using these wipes! They really do a good job at getting everything off! They are gentle on the skin and have a slight fragrance. There are 7 in each package which is great to travel with if you are going away for a week because you get exactly enough wipes (give the fact that you aren’t sharing them!)

L’Occitane Light Comforting Cream with 5% Shea - This sample lasted me quite a long time and I used it on my face. It is a nice thick cream that gave my skin the moisture that it needed!

BiorĂ© Pore Penetrating Charcoal Bar - The bar is made with natural charcoal and it claims to “deep cleans and gently exfoliates for 2.5x cleaner pores.” I’m not sure about the last part but it does deep clean and makes my face feel squeaky clean! I am still not 100% sold on it because I do not think that it practical for me to use a bar of soap in the morning before I go to work. My preference is still a liquid, cream or gel cleanser that I can pump or squeeze out. It does work well though and I would consider purchasing if it was in a different formula.

BiorĂ© Daily Makeup Removing Towelettes (5 wipes) - I received these at an event that I was attending and was excited to try them because I have heard of them but never tried them! I really like using these wipes because they smell great, take the majority of my makeup off and I look forward to using these at night! I would definitely purchase these!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 200 Soft Beige (3 samples) - This was a decent foundation but not my favourite. The coverage was buildable, it did not oxidize on me and it was nice to use. It claims to have an “anti-fatigue effect and adds a radiant glow.” It didn’t see any of those results personally.

Kat Von D Lock-It Featherweight Primer Base & Lock-It Foundation in Medium 54 - I found the foundation to be too dark for my current skin tone but I made it work anyway. The coverage is nice a full, it was not cake-y and did not make me break out. The primer is nice and smooth. I found it to glide onto my skin! I enjoyed trying out both of these products from her line and do not have anything negative to say about either one.

Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner in Honey Treasures - This is a new product from Garnier that ‘heals and protects’ the hair. It is made with no parabens and with natural extracts. What is inside is: royal jelly, honey and propolis extract. I did enjoying using this duo but would have to try-it out more to really give a true opinion.

Garnier Whole Blends Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner in Coconut Water & Vanilla Musk - The first thing I noticed was the smell because it smells incredible! I love anything vanilla and this really caught my attention! It claims that it ‘quenches and softens’ the hair. I did feel that my hair was a little softer after one use. I am definitely interested in purchase the larger version!

Other
Johnson’s 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner - I mainly picked it up because it was a product from the line that I had never seen before and they claim that it is an improved formula. I used it to wash my makeup brushes and I appreciate that it both cleans as well as conditions them. I would repurchase!

Food
Jelly Bellies in Pancakes & Maple Syrup - They did such a good job with the flavours that it actually tastes like you are eating pancakes with maple syrup! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to have it again sometime soon!

Jelly Bellies in Cocktail Classics - It was fun to try flavours such as: margarita, peach bellini, pomegranate cosmo, pina colada, strawberry daiquiri and mojito. I wouldn’t care to purchase again but it was fun to try once!

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY.
