NIVEA Q10 | Body Oil, Body Lotion & Anti-Age Hand Cream Review & Unboxing

Hey everyone! My Grandma has been using Nivea products for as long as I can remember and she has very soft, smooth skin. I received this package in the mail yesterday from Chick Advisor and was so excited to start trying out products from the Nivea Q10 line!

Products & Claims
Nivea Firming Q10 Plus Body Lotion (16 fl oz/473 ml) $9.99 - This body lotion claims to have your skin feeling firmer in two weeks and they use both Q10 Creatine as well as L-Carnitine in their formula. Which leaves the skin feeling more elastic and it also helps to strengthen the skin through moisturization. This is aimed at people with normal skin and it is recommended to use this twice daily.

Nivea Anti-Age Q10 Plus Hand Cream (3.3 fl oz/100 ml) $6.99 - This is targeted to those with dry hands and it claims to help reduce to appearance of wrinkles as well as fine lines over time with regular use of this product. It is enriched with Q10 coenzyme and helps the skin to look more youthful. This is a smoothing hand cream and it is Dermatologist tested.

Nivea Q10 Firming Body Oil (200 ml) $13.99 - This is the newest product in their line and it claims to help reduce the look of stretch marks. It also provides various benefits and keeps the skin hydrated at the same time. This is a unique formula that combines the moisturizing properties of standard oils and the advanced performance from specialized oils to help give you great skin with this all-in-one product! It contains: Coenzyme Q10, Avocado Oil, Cottonseed Oil and Macadamia Oil.

Testing Them Out
I was most excited to try-out the body oil because I had ran out of mine a few weeks ago and was actually going to purchase another one before this came in the mail! The Body Oil did not feel oily or greasy on the skin, it absorbed nicely and didn't stain my clothes. I am not the biggest fan of how the product is dispensed but I can of course look past that because most body oils can be difficult to store in packaging. The Firming Body Lotion did have a scent to it but I quite enjoyed it and it absorbed quickly into my skin with no sticky feeling. I thought the formula was great and it left my skin very soft. The Anti-Age Hand Cream had a nice consistency as it was not too thick and not too liquidy. It smelled great, did not leave a greasy residue and it was definitely one of the better hand creams that I have ever used!

Overall Thoughts & Feelings
My legs are rather dry lately and my hands are very dry because I do have psoriasis. This lotion did a fantastic job at hydrating my skin and I am big fan of the hand cream! It felt great on the skin, it is easy to throw in my purse and it did not irritate my psoriasis on my hands which a ton of other hand creams often times do! I really looked forward to using the body oil and it will be perfect to use in the summer months. I am a fan of all 3 products and the price point for each one is definitely very affordable. These products are easy accessible at your drugstore, Wal-Mart and even at major grocery stores!

I absolutely love Nivea's Lip Butters and I have gone through the Raspberry Rose Kiss in the past! I'm currently working on the Vanilla & Macadamia one!

Until next time,

5 Summer Must Haves

Hey everyone! Happy Memorial Day weekend to all my American readers and us Canadians had the Victoria Day long weekend last week! As we all know, summer is quickly approaching and I complied a list of 5 Summer Must Haves for this year!

5 Summer Must Haves
1. Dad Hat
4. Hair Mask
5. Tinted Moisturizer

It is definitely important to protect your eyes and head from those harmful UV rays! My hair tends to get super dry from the heat and the water so deep conditioning my hair is crucial! My favourite product to use is the Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask that I fell in love with a little while ago. To help give yourself the illusion of a healthy glow, I have been using Jergens Natural Glow for many years and it is my go to summer moisturizer! Having a beautiful white smile really finishes off the look and I give credit to Smile Brilliant for helping me achieve a whiter smile! Having a sunscreen with a decent SPF is a given and that goes without saying!

Don't forget to check out my other post on How I Brightened My Smile in 5 Days and there are 3 coupon codes down below that can be used on the Smile Brilliant website!

May Empties | 2017

Hey everyone! It is time for another month of empties and here are all the products that I have used up for the month of May!

Face
beautyblender pro - I absolutely love this makeup sponge and although it is on the more expensive side, it is certainly worth every penny! It helps blend out your makeup flawlessly and I can’t tell you when the last time was when I used a foundation brush! I also use it to apply my: cream contour, highlight, blush and I even use it to apply powder when I’m baking my face!

Citrus Orange Scented Cleansing Wipes (25 count) - I purchased these at Michaels awhile back and I purchased 4 packs for under $5. These are great for removing swatches off my arms, but are not my personal favourite for removing makeup off my face. You definitely get what you pay for and these are not bad because they do a decent job, they just aren’t the best cleaning wipes on the market.

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (8 count) - I always have Biore pore strips on me at all times and these once were effective, but my favourite ones of all time are the pore strips for the face.

Bath & Body Works
Coconut Pumpkin Latte Nourishing Hand Soap (8 fl oz/236 ml) - I loved the scent of this hand soap and I smelled more coconut than pumpkin! It is a good one and I was actually sad to run out of it! It is described on the side of the bottle as, “a nourishing hand soap with pumpkin butter!” My hands felt soft and clean after using it!

Sea Island Cotton Deep Cleansing Hand Soap (8 fl oz/236 ml) - This is definitely a classic Bath & Body Works scent and I have repurchased it in different forms before (lotions, soaps, etc.) This is a very fresh and clean scent that reminds me of laundry.

Peach Bellini Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (8.75 fl oz/259 ml) - This is a scent that I have been using for many years having no intention of stopping any time soon! It is described as a, 'juicy peach, white apricot and fresh mango' scent. It is definitely one of their classic scents and I have also used the Scentportable of this particular scent in the past! It smelled great in my car and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Cedar & Sage Gentle Foaming Hand Soap (8.75 fl oz/259 ml) - This has to be one of my favourite masculine scents of all time from Bath & Body Works! This reminds me of a fragrance that I had when I was in high school and I think it was Diesel Green but I could be wrong!

Island Margarita Scentportable Fragrance Refill (0.2 fl oz/6 ml) - This is definitely one of my go-to scents from Bath & Body Works during the summer. This scent never gets old to me and it’s definitely one that I look forward to use each season!

Caribbean Escape Scentportable Fragrance Refill (0.2 fl oz/6 ml) - This is a classic summer scent by Bath & Body Works that has been around for a few years now. I prefer Island Margarita over this scent but it is definitely nostalgic to me!

Body
Gilette Satin Care Shave Gel with Shea Butter for Dry Skin (198 g/7 oz) - I have very oily skin on my face but the rest of my body is dry and that’s why I decided to pick up this product. It didn’t do anything out of the ordinary and I would still need to slather myself in body lotion. It was a very standard shave gel and it definitely wasn’t one of my favourites.

Teeth
Oral B Healthy Clean Medium Toothbrush - I actually featured this in my March Empties and after using another one of these toothbrushes, I can say that I really don't like the medium kind. I much prefer a soft bristle toothbrush and will no longer be purchasing that type anymore. Don’t get me wrong, Oral B is an amazing brand and makes my favourite toothbrushes, I just prefer the soft bristle ones! I only bought the medium kind because there were no soft ones and I was in a pinch!

Samples/Promo

Face/Body
Caudalie Resveratrol (Lift) Face Lifting Soft Cream (0.5 fl oz/15 ml) - This was definitely too greasy and oily for me to wear in the day time especially if I was going to be wearing a full face of makeup that day. I did enjoy using it at night and using it in conjunction with a facial oil. My face felt hydrated the following morning. I wouldn’t purchase this because it does feel greasy on the skin and I know that your skincare isn’t supposed to smell good, but there is a scent to it that I can’t describe. It isn’t foul smelling but it isn’t the most pleasant either so keep that in mind when you are purchasing.

Avene TriXera Nutri-Fluid Balm (0.3 fl oz/10 ml) - This was a deluxe sample that was included in my Beauty Boutique order. This is fragrance-free and is for both the face as well as the body. I liked using it on my body but felt that it made my face too oily and would not use it on my face again. This is targeted for those with dry to very dry sensitive skin. I have dry skin on my body but it is not sensitive and it did a great job at hydrating the skin on my body. It is also hypoallergenic (unlikely to cause an allergic reaction) and non-comedogenic (it will not cause blocked pores.) It was a very standard lotion though and it didn’t stand out from the rest but it did make my skin very smooth as well as soft.

Vichy Liftactiv Supreme Intense Anti-Wrinkle and Firming Corrective Care (0.1 fl oz/3 ml) - This is targeted to those with normal to combination skin. There is a light scent that I quite enjoy and the formula is thicker than I thought it would be which is another plus. It is white in colour but it completely blends out leaving no residue. It did not break me out and I would definitely consider purchasing the full sized version!

L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream (4 ml) - I received this free in a gift trio that I received from L’Occitane. I really did enjoy using this cream, it is on the thick side and I would use it before bed. There is a floral scent to it and the jar is very beautiful. It made my skin soft and supple.

Time In A Bottle 100% In-Control (3 ml) - You pour the activator into the serum, shake for 20 seconds and that will result in the formula turning a light pink. You can use this both in the morning and at night. It was rather messy to use and there was no sticky feeling left behind after you rubbed the product in to your skin fully. This does have a nice scent to it and the full sized version (1.35 oz) retails at Ulta for $76 USD.

Nivea In-Shower Body Milk (80 ml) - This is targeted to those with dry to very skin skin and it claims to be nourishing, lasting up to 24 hours or more. It contains almond oil and it is supposed to cleanse your skin as well as hydrate it. I have very dry skin on my body right now and this product didn’t help with it. I had tried a smaller sample of this in the past and after trying a larger sample more recently, I still don’t care for this product to be honest with you.

Hands
L’Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream with 20% Shea (10 ml) - I actually received this as part of the L’Occitane Free Gift Trio that I have an entire post dedicated to. I have used this hand cream before and I really like it! It is definitely unisex and does a great job at nourishing your hands. My hands did not feel greasy after applying this to them and they felt very soft!

Fragrance
Viva La Juicy Eau de Parfum Spray (.05 fl oz/1.5 ml) - The notes are described as: “Viva la Juicy combines delicious wild berries with creamy vanilla and bright jasmine.” This is designed for the glamorous girl who is the life of the party. This is a great daytime scent that you can feel good about wearing. It smells great but my only complaint is that it is not lasting and wears off within a few hours before you need to reapply.

Downy Unstopables In-Wash Scent Booster in Fresh - I heard about a DIY from Ciaobella on Youtube and it’s where you pour some of these beads into a mesh bag. You then secure it shut and you can put it in any drawer or in your car or even in your laundry room! I love the scent of these and it definitely freshened up my entire drawer! I do the same exact thing with dried lavender and have been doing that for as long as I can remember!

Review on 3 Peter Thomas Roth Skincare Products

Hey everyone! I have been really into skincare over the past 1-2 years and wanted to share some reviews on 3 different products from Peter Thomas Roth!

Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel - I used up the smaller version that came in the Peter Thomas Roth Hall of Fame Kit and I also featured this in my October Empties | 2016. The larger size that you can see in the photos, came in the Skin Saver Kit (4.2 fl oz/125 ml) and the full size retails on the Sephora website for $52 for 8 fl oz/240 ml. This did a great job at removing my makeup at the end of the night and I love that it is a gel consistency. This is definitely my favourite product out of the 3 and it is oil-free. This claims to be for all skin types except for sensitive.

Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion (SPF 30) - This is lightweight and it protects as well as hydrates your skin. It does smell like sunscreen and if that's not your cup of tea, then stay away from this product. As you can tell from the photo, the formula is also a thick consistency and is white in colour. It does blend out well but I wish it had a higher SPF than 30. My bottle is 1 fl oz/30 ml because this did come in the PTR Skin Saver kit, but the full size retails for $55 at Sephora for 1.7 fl oz/50 ml. The consistency I feel like is too thick for summer but I would use this on my face during the colder months.

My face did feel slightly greasy after rubbing it in fully and make sure to not get it in your eyes because it is very irritating! I wouldn't purchase a larger size because I have other sunscreens with a higher SPF that I much prefer and I combine it with my moisturizer anyway.

Cucumber Gel Mask - Mine is 1.7 fl oz/50 ml because it came in the PTR Skin Saver set and if you purchase Peter Thomas Roth Hall of Fame Kit, it comes with a smaller version than what I have. The full size jar retails for $73 on Sephora's website and you are getting 150 ml of product. You are supposed to leave this on for 10 minutes and then wash it off, but there is another option to leave it on overnight so that this mask can really penetrate into your skin. For a cooling effect, put this mask in the fridge before using it! It is advised to use this product between 2-3 times a week. This didn't feel sticky on the skin and it did not break me out. I prefer my GLAMGLOW masks.

The Affordable Brush Cleaner Makeup Artists Use

Hey everyone! I was reading an article online awhile back, and a makeup artist actually said that this was their go-to cleanser. I was intrigued, did a little research and decided to put it to the test!

Product Details, Price & Where To Buy
I'm talking about The Masters Brush Cleaner and Preserver that retails for $9.38 for 1 oz of product. There are larger sizes that you can purchase if you're curious. I bought a smaller size just to test out and if it works well, then next time, I'll upgrade to a bigger tub.
I purchased mine online at Amazon and got free shipping with my order. This particular brush cleaner also cleans paint brushes that have been dipped in: oil paint, watercolour or even acrylic. If you look closely, there is an artist who is painting an image on a canvas that is resting on an easel.

How It Works
I washed 3 of my Sigma eyeshadow brushes with it and followed the instructions. You must rinse your brush in warm water and then swirl the makeup brush in the compound making sure to work it into a lather. Keep doing that until your brush is clean and rinse thoroughly! After I swirled my brush around in the cleanser, I found that doing that same motion on the palm of my hand and then rinsing it off with warm water was the most effective way. I really did love how it cleaned my eyeshadow brushes and it was very quick too! It isn't nearly as messy as when I use my Johnson's Baby Shampoo and I found this method to be more effective.

However, I attempted to clean my beauty blender with it and it was not working out well for me. I prefer to use a liquid rather than a solid to wash my beauty blender for sure. If you have very dirty face brushes, I suggest that you do a pre-wash with some brush shampoo and then follow-up with this solid cleanser. I did clean a few of my face brushes with this cleanser that were previously used to dip into different powders (blush, face powder, bronzer, etc) and everything came off effortlessly!

Did It Pass The Test?
Yes, it definitely did and I will now be cleaning all my eye brushes with this wonderful solid cleanser! They felt like new and were very soft after just one wash. I will not use it to clean any of my makeup sponges though because I have a preferred method and one that already works better for me. I like this cleaner because you can even leave the lather on your brushes to help shape and condition the bristles! It cleans as well as conditions which is amazing and I actually looked forward to cleaning my brushes with it!

I also have a video on YouTube where I test out 3 brush cleaners separate from the one that I spoke about today in this blog post!

Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation Review

Hey everyone! I have searched high and low for this product in Canada with no luck! When I was in Buffalo, I looked in two stores and finally found it in the third. Third time is usually a charm right?  I'll be sharing my thoughts and I will be reviewing the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation in the shade Soft Ivory for you today.

Claims & Benefits
It claims to be a high-performing, breakthrough formula that has a light-adjusting complex to help with the white cast you often times see in photos. This formula has been tested under 7 light conditions with and without the use of flash. It also claims to have that your skin but better look to it and helps to give your skin a matte, light-diffusing complex, camera-ready look every time.

Price, Where To Buy & Shade Range
I seen this product in Wal-Mart and Target when I was in the USA. I found my correct shade at Rite-Aid and purchased mine for $6.19.  I bought the shade Soft Ivory and it matched me fairly well. You can also purchase it online on the Wet N Wild website for $5.99. It comes in 20 shades with a variety of different undertones and also caters to WOC.

The Applicator & The Formula
It is plastic and it is great to use for dotting the product all over your face. I was definitely a fan of it because I prefer using a pump generally speaking, but this is my second favourite way of dispensing the foundation from the bottle. This foundation does dry fairly quickly and you need to work rather fast with it. It is matte yet dewy and it helps create a flawless canvas on your face.

How It Performed & Is It Worth The Hype?
I remember seeing so many vloggers testing out this foundation on YouTube and were doing first impression videos on it. This is definitely a buildable foundation and it is medium to full coverage depending on how many layers you apply. I applied this foundation to one side of my face with a brush and the other side with a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. The left side of my face that was blended out with a brush looked much more powdery on the face than when it was blended out with a sponge. The first layer gave me a light-medium coverage and I say that because I could still see my freckles peaking through.

The second layer was more of a medium coverage and the third layer was definitely more full coverage. I would highly advise that you use a sponge rather than a brush and I also noticed the side that I used the brush on, really emphasized my pores around my cheek area. It did not feel heavy on the skin and it did not oxidize. It looked better on my skin as time went on and it worked well on my oily skin.

Flash & No Flash Test
I feel that it did look great in photos and that it made my skin look flawless! The photo below is with no flash in natural lighting.

The photo down below is indoors with the flash on. I would definitely use this foundation on occasions where I know that I will be photographed or for when I want my face to look flawless!

Don't forget to check out my review on the Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powders in the shades Precious Petals and Crown of my Canopy!

Liquid Coconut Oil, Lavender Conditioner, Green Tea & Lime Shampoo Review

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you 3 new haircare products that I have been testing out and if you're curious how they have been working out for me, then keep on reading!

Rockwell's Liquid Coconut Oil (250 ml) - This product is made naturally from virgin coconut oil and is a natural product that is non GMO. It is also: vegan, organic, Canadian, cold pressed, trans-fat free, non hydrogenated as well as hexane and solvent free. This claims to remain a liquid even when put inside the fridge and also claims that it will not solidify. I put it to the test and put it in the fridge overnight. I checked in the morning and to my surprise, it did not solidify: it was still a liquid. I also purchased mine on sale at RCSS but you can also purchase a bottle online at Well.ca or on Amazon. It didn't really have a scent, it was very easy to apply, not messy and it wasn't overly oily.

Avalon Organics Nourishing Lavender Conditioner (325 ml) - On their website, the bottle is different and it says that it is a new look. I have the old packaging and that is probably the reason why it was on sale at RCSS. The bottle is made with 100% recycled materials which is awesome. However, both bottles contain the same amount of product. It claims to 'nourish and moisturize normal to dry hair for soft, smooth, shiny results.' This was a very thick conditioner that was white in colour and it did not lather. It had a faint lavender scent and it felt strange to apply the conditioner to my hair because it almost felt like I was applying a thick cream or lotion to my hair. I wouldn't recommend or repurchase.

Be sure to check out this great article: The Go-To Essential Oil: Lavender that tells you about the different uses for lavender and it explains exactly what lavender essential oil is.

Kiss My Face Whenever Shampoo, Green Tea & Lime (325 ml) - This shampoo contains Moroccan Argan Oil and botanicals. It claims to be for all hair types, that it will leave hair silky-soft and that it will leave hair shiny as well as manageable. You can purchase it on Amazon (it comes in different sizes,) but I bought mine at Real Canadian Superstore (RCSS.) I thoroughly enjoyed using this shampoo! The lime overpowered the green tea scent and it lathered very well! My hair did feel softer after use and I want to pick up the matching conditioner! The formula is a clear liquid, the bottle is just tinted green.

Testing Out 3 Eye Makeup Removers

Hey everyone! I recently opened up my bathroom cupboard and realized how many eye makeup removers that I actually own! I want to compare them and let you know which ones are worth your money!

Smashbox It's A Wrap Waterproof Makeup Remover - 4.2 fl oz/125 ml
This is definitely the most greasy out of the 3 but let me tell you that when I have to remove longwear eye makeup or liquid lipstick, this is what I always grab for! I know the greasy feeling will turn some people off but it didn't bother me because my liquid lipstick basically glided off! I was very impressed but with that being said, I wouldn't use it on a daily basis: only when I have stubborn eye makeup. I can definitely trust this product to remove it completely without tugging or pulling on the skin excessively. Just make sure not to get it in your eyes! This retails for $20 USD and you are getting the most amount of product in this bottle. I managed the snag mine at the Estee Lauder Warehouse Sale for only $8 CAD.

Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover - 3.4 fl oz/100 ml
When I put this to the test, it didn't remove my liquid lipstick very well. It only picked up a little bit of it on the cotton pad and then moved the rest around. It didn't do the greatest job at removing my eye makeup to be honest with you. This is definitely a gentle cleanser as it did not irritate my eye area, but it wasn't nearly as effective as the other two and I would not purchase this again. I found this exact product on the Estee Lauder website for $20 USD.

YSL Top Secrets Eye Makeup Remover Bi-Phase - 3.3 fl oz/100 ml
This is definitely the most expensive out of the 3 coming in at $38 CAD for the least amount of product. However, this is effective and it did the job. You need to make sure that you shake it before you use it because it is a bi-phase remover. When you shake it, it will activate those ingredients and mix them together. I felt like this was a standard eye makeup remover but it didn't necessarily stand out from the rest. Perhaps in the future I'll purchase a larger size but for now, I'm fine with using the travel size bottle.

Until next time,

STAY CLASSY
